My name is Jessica Alessio , M.Ed. COMS, CVRT and I am the Founder & CEO of See The World Education. Our Mission: See The World Education provides opportunities for people with disabilities or in need to participate in recreational, social, arts, travel, activities in an inclusive environment. The fund are for the individuals to continue these activities after the pandemic ceased. We would like to broaden our approach, in order to reach more people in need of these therapeutic ventures. We provide inclusive activities that individuals with disabilities never thought that they could participate in, such as watercolor painting using special techniques like salt to crystallize the portrait, reiki on the water, sound healing meditation, beach barbecues, and other social events. Ticket purchases from the general public cover the cost of participation for our clients making them free, inclusive, and accessible events for the disabled. Like most nonprofits, our agency had to cancel all events when COVID-19 hit, not only impacting our budget but also our ability to provide growth opportunities for people with disabilities. As a small nonprofit, we felt stuck but quickly pivoted to meet the most immediate needs of our clients. We realized that many could not afford to purchase personal hygiene or cleaning supplies after paying rent and struggling to place food on their tables. We quickly mobilized volunteers in our community to donate supplies and deliver these items to those in need. The COVID-19 program served hundreds of families in the Miami area and surrounding communities through contactless delivery and will provide over 5,000 items by May. We curated individualized care packages to meet the unique needs of each client, ensuring products did not go to waste. This made our clients feel important, heard, and provided support and assurance that their needs matter. Many individuals with disabilities do not have a car or cannot wait in line for needed supplies, and we found a solution to this problem. Unfortunately, funding for this vital program expires in May 2021. Your support will allow us to continue to help families as they struggle to make ends meet and keep their families safe, and allow us to provide more inclusive activities so persons with disabilities can enjoy life. We need your help to continue providing this service during the trying time, as well that planning future events for people with disabilities.
